Replacement dome switches, 10mm, 4-leg (Plus shaped), gold plated contact surface on peel-and-stick adhesive!
No messing with packing tape or other poor-quality, unsuitable adhesives!
Original-style exertion forces!
Please note: Price is per dome. A single one-button joystick would require 5 switches.
Gold plating is only on the contact side and the tops are nickel.
Many pre-NES machines use 3 or 4 leg dome switches for joysticks, console reset buttons, or other uses requiring a tactile feel. Over time these domes will crack or become detached. Sometimes the manufacturers used improper adhesives, or maybe the joystick never worked well to begin with!
These gold-plated domes offer a further increase in conducitvity compared our nickel-plated domes. They are placed in rows of 5 under a clear adhesive that is stronger yet easier to work than plain packing or clear tapes. Most 1-button joysticks will use 5 domes: one for each direction, and one for the fire button.
Installation requires removal of original domes and cleanup of surrounding adhesive. The circuit board metal should be clean and free of contamination before applying new domes. For copper PCBs, we recommend using a copper polish first followed by an isopropyl rinse to remove all traces of polish.
Over the years, suppliers of plain dome switches have come and gone. Most of the time, these replacements have been the wrong style or have the wrong exertion forces, and none of them have ever been provided with proper adhesives.
Due to the handmade nature of this item there will be some slight variation in adhesive sizing and orientation of the domes. Each dome will be placed on approximately .9sq/in adhesive.
