DIY miniature LM1881 Sync Cleaner PCBs with 0805 surface-mount parts. Small format, designed to fit in tight areas like SCART plugs.
Used in conjunction with an LM1881 IC to extract CSYNC signals from Composite video inputs for use with RGB-capable systems that don't natively output CSYNC.
Sync cleaners are needed for RGB with certain brands of monitors and upscalers that cannot process SYNC signals from Composite video. In some cases, even if the monitor can use Composite video, a sync cleaner circuit will further improve video quality.
These DIY kits include:
LM1881 PCB - 13mm x 20mm size
.1uf Capacitor (x3)
Choice of SOIC (surface mount), DIP (through hole), or None (if providing your own LM1881 chip)
The capacitors and resistor can be carefully installed with patience and a fine tip soldering iron, but the SOIC size chip may be challenging. If you do not have the equipment for surface-mount soldering, you may wish to consider selecting the DIP option.
USAGE NOTE: These PCBs output TTL sync by default. If your equipment is not compatible with TTL sync, please be sure to purchase and connect the optional 470 ohm resistor between the PCB output and your video device input. This will attenuate the output back to the "75 ohm" spec and prevent damage to certain types of equipment.
